What Is Vintage Jewellery?
Vintage jewellery is generally defined as 25 or more years old. But which is less than 100 years old. Jewellery which is over 100 years old is normally classed as antique. The value of vintage jewellery is not based only on the materials which it is made from. But rather on the quality of the workmanship and the style
Antique Jewellery.
For jewellery to be called antique. It normally needs to be 100 years or older. This timeline starts with the Edwardian period 1901 – 1910. All the way back to the Elizabethan period 1558 – 1603 and before. Antique jewellery is often divided into two broad groups, fine and costume jewellery. The former was made using precious metals, gold, silver or platinum. And contained diamonds or gemstones, such as emeralds, rubies and sapphires. These items of fine jewellery are worth a lot more than the metal. Or precious stones which they contain. Due to their elegant designs and rarity.
Here at Bishops we buy antiques and fine jewellery. We treat all of our customers with respect, honesty and integrity. We buy single items as well as entire collections.
